PALM BEACH COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD OPERATING BUDGET WORKSHOP
MINUTES
Minutes: Mike Burke, Budget Director, presented Board Members with information regarding the status of the General Fund Budget Breakdown of 2005-2006 Appropriations Current Budget after Mid-Year Reductions. Mr. Burke provided an Analysis of the General Fund Appropriations and summarized the following areas: Schools by Level; Departments; District Wide Items/Reserves; Board Contingency; Capital Maintenance Transfer; Governance; Administration; Operations; and Academics. Mr. Burke reviewed and entertained questions from Board Members regarding the Regular Budget by Functional Area; Restricted Categoricals; and the 2006-2007 Budget Adoption Calendar. Board Members discussed: waiving impact fees for new teachers (Lynch); including program reduction at next budget workshop (Burdick); Call to Action strategy (Burdick); 5% cuts from Washington (Burdick); local efforts (Lynch); status of the D.C.D. lawsuit (Lynch); and contacting statewide organizations to assist with the Call to Action (Robinson). Mr. Pickup-Crawford provided Board Members with a legislative update. At Dr. Johnson's request, Mr. Crawford summarized the dollar amount of federal funds lost.
